Did you know that over 90% of Americans may have a high percentage of body fat (even if they’re at healthy weights)? Even if you maintain a good diet and exercise routine, losing stubborn abdominal fat isn’t always easy.
Have you considered trying CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting is a non-invasive treatment that will freeze your fat cells and reduce your overall body fat, but how do you know if it’s right for you? We’re here to talk about CoolSculpting results so you can decide (and know what to expect). Read on to learn more.
Is CoolSculpting a Weight Loss Procedure?
This is a common misconception, so it’s important to get the facts right. CoolSculpting uses cold temperatures to kickstart fat reduction by freezing fat cells. With this in mind, it is not a weight-loss procedure.
CoolSculpting is a non-invasive treatment option. It will reduce visible fat on your chin, underarms, back, belly, thighs, among other areas. That said, it’s not a good option for people who need to lose substantial weight.
For the best results, you should already be at a healthy weight. CoolSculpting is the perfect solution for people who are trying to lose stubborn fat that isn’t going away despite a healthy diet and exercise routine.
When you go into the procedure with this in mind, you’ll be much more satisfied with your results!
Why Don’t Results Happen Immediately?
This is tied to another common misconception. CoolSculpting results don’t happen immediately. You will need to wait for a while before your final results are visible (more on the actual timeline later on).
It takes a while for cells to go through the apoptosis (or cell death) process. After your CoolSculpting procedure, your cells start going through cell death, but it won’t happen right away.
The cells don’t only have to die. They also have to be swept away by immune cells. As this happens, your body will adapt to having fewer fat cells and you’ll start to see the results that you’re looking for.
Remember, this isn’t a surgical procedure. No one is pulling fat cells into your body. Instead, you’re starting the process of killing those cells over time for long-lasting results.
Do You Need Several Appointments?
This is going to vary depending on your situation and the treatment plan set forth by your provider.
For people who are close to their goal appearance, it’s possible that a single CoolSculpting session will be enough. CoolSculpting is an effective treatment that yields great results even after a single session.
That said, many people find that they need multiple sessions. It’s best to wait until you start seeing results from your first session before you make another appointment. Your results may be better than they seem at first.
CoolSculpting Results Right After Your Appointment
So what can you expect immediately after your appointment?
Don’t panic. Remember, you’re not going to see results right away. Your body is working hard to get rid of those pesky fat cells, so give it time!
It’s common to experience swelling after your initial appointment. Your skin may be irritated after the intense cold of the procedure, but don’t worry. The swelling will go down in time for you to start seeing actual results.
You may notice some bruising or discoloration. Again, this is temporary and it’s not a cause for concern.
You may experience a feeling of “fullness” or “tightness” around the treated areas. You may also feel a slight ache and increased skin sensitivity.
Overall, these side effects are short-lived and mild. They’re signs that the CoolSculpting procedure is working its magic.
Three Weeks After
Three weeks after your procedure, you should start seeing results. These won’t be the final results, but they’ll give you an idea of how your body is changing.
Your initial swelling should be gone by this point. You’ll start to see that some of your fat cells have been removed from your body, and you may notice that your waistline (if you got CoolSculpting on your belly) is a bit smaller.
These changes will be subtle. We recommend taking photos during your recovery process so you can see your results more clearly. From this point forward, the process will speed up and results will be more obvious.
Eight Weeks After
Eight weeks, or almost two months, after your procedure, you’ll see better results. These still aren’t your final results, but this is a good time to start considering whether or not you’re going to get future sessions. Don’t make your appointment just yet, however.
You’ll notice visible fat reduction, and if your clothes weren’t looser before, they will be by this point. You may notice more definition in the mirror (but remember that you should already have some muscle built up if you want to see muscle definition after CoolSculpting).
How Long Do CoolSculpting Results Last?
CoolSculpting results are long-lasting as long as you maintain a healthy diet and exercise routine. You can still gain weight and fat after CoolSculpting if you don’t have a healthy lifestyle.
We recommend getting 150 minutes per week of moderate-intensity exercise and making sure that you don’t eat above your maintenance calories unless you’re trying to build muscle.
