At Vibrant Med Spa, we offer multiple injectable treatments to choose from.
Each treatment has its own purpose and attendant perks, along with risks to know about. (When you get treatment from us, our team will give you a full rundown of what to know about a given treatment.)
Below, we give an overview to the following four injectables:
Injectable Wrinkle Reducers
Wrinkles are the result of muscle contractions that naturally occur from facial expressions like frowning, squinting, or eyebrow raises. Lines and wrinkles are like the imprint that these facial expressions leave after enough time.
Treatments are quick, taking 10–15 minutes and only causing minimal discomfort that is akin to a short pinch. It can take up to two weeks before effects fully set in.
Wrinkle reducers are a form of neurotoxins that come under a variety of brand names. We offer the following, each of which smooths wrinkles up to three to four months:
-
- Dysport®: Particularly good for addressing frown lines.
So, how do these injectable wrinkle reducers work?
Neurotoxins can have a variety of effects. As you can guess from the suffix “-toxins”, these indeed cause harmful effects to the nervous system, as you may have surmised from the “neuro-” prefix.
However, you can put scare quotes around the word “harmful”, as the ultimate result can actually be desired. In the case of injectable wrinkle reducers, the nerve damage that this causes is the blockage of nerve impulses to facial muscles, which relaxes those muscles.
The result is the reduction of wrinkles because the face is less tense. However, do note that the blockage is only temporary, which is why consistent injections are necessary for anyone looking to consistently enjoy the effects of wrinkle reducers. Three or four months is about as long as you can expect a single treatment to last.
The professionals at Vibrant Med Spa will discuss with you all of the risks of injectable wrinkle reducers.
If you are receiving any of our injectable wrinkle reducers from us, be prepared to disclose to us any medical issues that could potentially cause complications. Such issues include nerve disease, breathing problems, diabetes, and heart issues, among other health issues related to the risks of wrinkle-reducing injectables.
Injectable Dermal Fillers
We consider dermal fillers to be complements to injectable wrinkle reducers. Dermal fillers are common in anti-aging treatments. Aging brings with it the loss of subcutaneous fat. The result is that facial muscles are closer to the skin’s surface, which increases the visibility of lines.
Dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid, which is a sugar that is in the human body; and calcium hydroxylapatite, a mineral that is important in bone structure.
We offer the following dermal fillers:
-
- JUVÉDERM®
-
- Restylane®
These treatments can address recessed scars and other deformities. It can also lighten the shadow of lower lids. Another use is plumping thin lips.
There are plenty of other uses for dermal fillers. However, do note that, as with injectable wrinkle reducers, injectable dermal fillers are only temporary.
Ask us about the full extent of risks for injectable dermal fillers. Bruising, pain, itching, and rashes are common risks, among others.
Uncommon risks include nodules or granulomas, which are bumps that may need surgical removal; necrosis, which is tissue death; open wounds; infections; sores; and inflammation.
Not everyone is fit for dermal fillers, as medical complications could arise. For instance, bleeding disorders and certain allergies are associated with risks.
Injectable Collagen Biostimulators
Collagen production and tissue growth are the results of these injectables.
Dermal fillers provide immediate volume, whereas biostimulators enact a gradual process for gaining volume and improving skin quality.
Smile lines, chin wrinkles, and marionette lines are some of the common targets of this treatment.
Biostimulators work for both the face and the body, with effects lasting up to two years.
The longer-lasting results are owed to the collagen production that biostimulators encourage the body to perform on its own.
We offer the following biostimulators:
-
- Sculptra®: Made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA).
-
- Radiesse®: Offering a deeper fill, this biostimulator contains calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA). Typically lasts 12–18 months, although a full two years is sometimes seen.
Side effects include temporary swelling and bruising, but these tend to resolve quickly.
Injectable Kybella®
This injectable addresses submental fullness, otherwise known as a “double chins”.
In some cases, these can actually be quite difficult to get rid of without medical interventions by injectors.
Hence, the allure of the Kybella® injectable, which uses the molecule deoxycholic acid to break down body fat.
How this works is by destroying fat cells under the chin, the site of injection.
What happens here is that the cells can no longer store fat, so this treatment is indeed of the long-term variety.
However, this is not a one-and-done procedure, as the majority of patients need multiple sessions, spaced about a month apart from each other. Each session, which typically lasts around 20 minutes, will involve multiple injections.
Side effects include swelling, bruising, and numbness under the chin. These should resolve themselves quickly.
However, uneven smiles, facial muscle weakness, difficulty swallowing, or injection-site issues such as excessive bruising or open sores or tissue damage or hair loss are cause of concern. Contact us if you experience any of this after treatment.
